Unfortunately breast cancer not only has touched my friend’s families but in August 2018 breast cancer struck my family. While I was too young to fully understand what having breast cancer meant I knew that my mothers diagnosis was pretty serious. The doctors and nurses at the Dubin Breast Center and Memorial Sloan Cancer Center provided my mother with amazing care and treatment and I am happy to say she has been in remission ever since. I never met my grandmother (my father’s mom) as she was diagnosed with breast cancer at the early age of 42 and passed away three years later at 45. I would like to think that if my grandmother was diagnosed today given all the research and treatments available she would be like my mother in remission and coming to my hockey games.
