Lara Hopewell is the October Saves executive director and one of its founding members. Under Lara’s leadership, the Goalie Challenge has forged significant partnerships with hockey organizations across the US and Canada including multiple NHL teams, aligning with their Hockey Fights Cancer initiatives to amplify the cause’s impact. Her role has not only brought the hockey community together but has also fostered a spirit of collective effort toward fighting cancer.

As a 15-year breast cancer survivor and mother of two ice hockey goalies, Lara brings a deeply personal connection to both the cause and the sport. This unique perspective has been the driving force behind October Saves’ continued success.

Lara considers it one of her life’s missions to inspire and mobilize the incredible hockey community in the ongoing fight against cancer. Her dedication, combined with her leadership and personal experience, continues to be a beacon of hope and motivation for many.
